Seoul: A 2.5 magnitude earthquake struck near North Korea's northeastern county of Kilju, where a nuclear test site is located, the South Korean weather agency reported. The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) confirmed the tremor as a natural earthquake occurring on Saturday evening. According to Yonhap News Agency, the earthquake occurred at 9:24 p.m., 37 kilometers northwest of Kilju. The epicenter was pinpointed at a latitude of 41.28 degrees north and a longitude of 129.21 degrees east, situated at a depth of 17 kilometers. The KMA assessed the earthquake as a natural occurrence, distinguishing it from seismic activity caused by nuclear tests or other man-made events.
