47th ASEAN Summit Commences in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur: The 47th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and related summits began today in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, centered around the theme "Inclusivity and Sustainability."

According to Nam News Network, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who is serving as the chair of ASEAN 2025, addressed the opening ceremony. He emphasized the challenges posed by rising contestation and growing uncertainty to ASEAN economies and highlighted the importance of maintaining collective resolve to uphold cooperation.

Prime Minister Ibrahim further remarked that ASEAN's strength lies in the shared belief that respect and reason continue to unite its members. Established in 1967, ASEAN comprises Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Timor-Leste.
