7 complaints of deepfake porn targeting female soldiers filed: civic group

Seven complaints of deepfake pornography targeting female soldiers were filed with a civic group last month, with the videos being detailed enough to reveal the victims' names and titles, the group said Monday. A sexual violence counseling unit of the Center for Military Human Rights said the seven cases were filed during its special report campaign, conducted from Sept. 3-30, following the discovery of a Telegram group chat room that shared deepfake porn videos manipulating images of female soldiers. The reported illegally fabricated content explicitly revealed female soldiers' real names and titles in enough detail for people around them to identify them, the unit said. All seven cases were filed by the victims themselves, who became aware of the damage after the discoveries were made by co-workers or the defense ministry's relevant investigative body. The civic group said the reported deepfake porn used official profile images of female soldiers as well as everyday photos, calling on the defense minis try to implement measures to better protect personal information.
