Phnom Penh: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will continue to strengthen and expand its partnership with the Royal Government of Cambodia to contribute to achieving the Kingdom's Vision 2050. The commitment was expressed by ADB President H.E. Masato Kanda during a courtesy visit to Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet at the Peace Palace.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Masato Kanda emphasized that Cambodia is a significant partner for ADB, expressing confidence that under Samdech Thipadei's leadership, the relations and cooperation between ADB and Cambodia will grow further. During his first overseas visit as ADB president, Kanda visited Kep province to assess the 'Strengthening Climate Resilience and Sustainability of Coastal and Marine Fisheries in Cambodia' Project and a local high school, highlighting the successful implementation of the project as evidence of the strong partnership between ADB and Cambodia.
H.E. Masato Kanda also noted the approval of ADB's new Country Partnership Strategy for Cambodia (2024-2028), which aligns with the Royal Government's Pentagonal Strategy - Phase 1. This strategy will guide future cooperation efforts and project implementations.
Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed appreciation for ADB's support, acknowledging its crucial role in Cambodia's socio-economic development over the years. He briefed H.E. Masato Kanda on the government's priority policies and measures to enhance health, education, technical and vocational training, local community development, and the investment environment.
The Prime Minister encouraged ADB to continue fostering close relations and cooperation with local authorities and government ministries to further strengthen and expand the partnership.
