SEOUL, The agriculture ministry said Tuesday it has been monitoring the supply of chicken ahead of the summer season. The monitoring came as the demand for chicken normally rises during the summer, as many South Koreans enjoy meals, including a traditional chicken soup. "On the back of efforts made by farms and businesses, the supply of chicken remains stable," said Park Su-jin, the deputy minister for food grain policy. "The consumer price is also set to remain stable down the road." The number of chickens supplied to the market over the first five months of 2024 came to 319 million units, up 5.3 percent from a year earlier. The consumer price for a kilogram of chicken came to 5,868 won (US$4.26) this month, down 8.3 percent from last year. Source: Yonhap News Agency
