Siem reap: Distinguished delegates from the 20th Asia Media Summit (AMS) concluded their successful gathering on July 24, 2025, with a symbolic tree planting ceremony in front of Angkor Wat Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The event underscored the summit's commitment to environmental sustainability and served as a cultural highlight for participants.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the tree planting, held at the southern corner of Trapeang Ses of Angkor Wat, saw delegates from the Cambodian Ministry of Information and other AMS member countries plant approximately 50 tree saplings. H.E. Kem Gunawadh, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Information, emphasised that the activity was a "living testimony on Cambodia's historic grounds and as a contribution to environmental sustainability," marking a fitting end to the summit.
Following the ceremony, the delegation embarked on a cultural tour of the Angkor Archaeological Park, exploring the iconic temples of Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm, and Bayon. This visit provided delegates with a firsthand experience of Cambodia's rich heritage and the grandeur of its ancient architecture.
The 20th Asia Media Summit and its related meetings were held from July 21 to 24, 2025, in Siem Reap city, Cambodia, the Kingdom of Wonder. H.E. Neth Pheaktra, Minister of Information, highlighted the productive nature of the discussions, stating that delegates engaged in "constructive and substantive discussions addressing key challenges faced by the media sector amid rapid digital transformation." These challenges included the rise of misinformation and the erosion of public trust in traditional media, which delegates collectively acknowledged and committed to addressing with transparency.
Minister Pheaktra expressed his hope that participants gained "deeper insights, renewed commitment, and clearer strategies to strengthen the foundations of their respective media institutions and systems." He also conveyed his wish that delegates enjoyed their stay in Siem Reap, experiencing the "warmth, hospitality, and friendship of the Cambodian people." The Minister extended his gratitude to the Royal Government of Cambodia, particularly to Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, for the "strong and visionary leadership and unwavering support" that facilitated the successful hosting of the summit.
