Battambang: A delegation of Buddhist monks and followers from Battambang province has donated communication radios, food, and other essential supplies to Cambodian troops on the border in Preah Vihear province. The delegation made the donation this afternoon at Tuol Andet Pagoda.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the initiative was supported by 28 pagodas in Battambang city, as well as Buddhist monks and laypeople from the Khmer Baliley pagoda in the United States, and Cambodian philanthropists. The donated supplies, along with financial assistance of approximately 60 million Riel (roughly US$15,000), were delivered to troops stationed in the border areas of Ta Thav, Bos Sbov, Anseh, Phnom Khmoach, and Mom Bei in Choam Ksan district.
In a speech, a representative of Buddhist monks highlighted the spirit of national solidarity and praised the soldiers for their sacrifices in protecting Cambodia's territorial integrity. He emphasised that the contributions were a symbol of unified support from Cambodians both at home and abroad.
He clarified that the donations were not a reflection of any Royal Government deficiency but were intended as a morale boost for the troops. "We are truly proud of our brave troops, who embody willpower, courage, and loyalty to the nation," he said. "They willingly stand on the frontlines, facing artillery and weaponry of all kinds, so that the Cambodian people can live in peace, enjoy their meals, and share smiles and warmth with their families."
