Boat Tragedy: Two More Myanmar Migrants Found Off Langkawi




Accra:Two more Myanmar migrants, believed to be victims of a boat sinking, were found floating near Tuas Kuala Muda, Teriang, Langkawi at around 3.11 pm today.





According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) stated that the discovery brings the total found so far to 13, including a woman who was found dead. The agency reported receiving a call about two men floating in the area, who were subsequently rescued by local fishermen and later transferred to an MMEA vessel.





Earlier, MMEA Kedah and Perlis director First Admiral Romli Mustafa confirmed that a search-and-rescue operation (CARILAMAT) was activated in Langkawi waters following the boat sinking near Pulau Tarutao, close to the Malaysia-Thailand maritime border. The operation began after several suspected Myanmar migrants were found in Langkawi waters yesterday.
