Visiting H.E. Ms. Retno L.P. Marsudi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, has lauded Cambodia's development and progress thanks to peace, and considered the Kingdom as a model of experience between peace and development. She made the remarks when she was received in a courtesy meeting by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh this afternoon. H.E. Ms. Retno L.P. Marsudi added that making war is easy, but when war breaks out, it is not known when it will end, as in the case of some countries. Besides, she reported to Samdech Thipadei on the outcomes of the 5th Cambodia-Indonesia Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (5th JCBC) Meeting held on Aug. 20-21, 2024. In reply, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet laid stress on the importance of peace which is a necessary basis for development, affirming that achieving peace is not easy. Therefore, he continued, the Royal Government of Cambodia has been doing its best t o maintain peace. The Cambodian Premier took the opportunity to thank Indonesia for her contribution to the peace-seeking process in Cambodia in the late 1980s and early 1990s and praised the success and fruitful results of the 5th JCBC Meeting. As this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of Cambodia-Indonesia diplomatic ties, Samdech Thipadei and H.E. Ms. Retno L.P. Marsudi highly valued the progress of both countries’ relations, and discussed ways to continue fostering the bilateral cooperation in key potential areas such as economy and trade, agriculture, tourism, and people-to-people connections, as well as national defence and security.
