Phnom penh: A preliminary draft report on Cambodia's implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) has been finalised for further review by an inter-ministerial level. The agreement was reached during a meeting chaired here yesterday by H.E. Met Makara, Secretary of State and Deputy President of the Disability Action Council (DAC) under the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, to guide the next phase of the review, the meeting established two specialised working groups led by Mr. Ung Sereyvisoth, Vice Chairman of the Council of Lawyers, and Mr. Nov Bonnor, Vice Chairman of the Economic, Social, and Cultural Council. The content of the draft report will be submitted for discussion at an upcoming inter-ministerial meeting, where it will be further refined and endorsed.
The meeting brought together senior officials from the Office of the Council of Ministers, along with representatives from the Council of Lawyers, the Council of Literacy, the Economic, Social, and Cultural Council, and the Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC).
