Cambodia and Belgium Affirm Strong Bilateral Ties

Nice: Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed H.E. Ms. Annelies Jan Louisa Verlinden, Minister of Justice of the Kingdom of Belgium, in Nice, France on the sidelines of the Third United Nations Ocean Conference. The meeting highlighted the satisfaction of both countries with their ongoing cooperation.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Belgian Minister expressed her satisfaction with the development of robust bilateral relations and commended the cooperation between the two countries' Ministries of Justice. She noted the progress made in negotiating a justice-sector agreement as a significant achievement.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also appreciated the cooperation between Cambodia and Belgium. He expressed gratitude to the Belgian government and its people for their support, particularly in mine clearance, education, and the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC).

The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of the bilateral consultation mechanism between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs to further strengthen and broaden cooperation across various sectors. He praised the productive collaboration between the two Ministries of Justice and urged both sides to expedite internal procedures necessary for finalising and signing the agreement, which has already concluded its discussion phase.
