Phnom penh: Cambodia and China have highly praised their growing bilateral cooperation in combating online scams and cyber-enabled crimes, exchanging insights and experiences on the issue. The commendation came during a working meeting here this morning between H.E. Santepundit Chhay Sinarith, Senior Minister in Charge of Special Missions, who also chairs the Secretariat of the Ad Hoc Commission to combat online scams, and H.E. Wang Wenbin, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Cambodia.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during the discussion, both sides acknowledged the significant achievements of their past collaboration. H.E. Santepundit Chhay Sinarith emphasised the Ad Hoc Commission's pivotal role in leading and overseeing nationwide efforts and institutions dedicated to cracking down on online scams. He reiterated the Secretariat's commitment to strengthening cooperation with international partners in this critical fight.
For his part, Ambassador Wang Wenbin welcomed Cambodia's proactive stance, specifically commending the establishment of the above-said Commission and the issuance of government directives to combat online fraud. He noted that these measures underscore the Royal Government's "strong and genuine commitment to eliminating cyber fraud."
H.E. Ambassador further affirmed China's continued support and cooperation with Cambodia's Ad Hoc Commission, underscoring a shared resolve to eradicate online scams.
