Phnom penh: The General Department of Waterway-Maritime Transport and Ports of Cambodia's Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) and China's Maritime Safety Administration have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Maritime Safety in Guangzhou, China's Guangdong province.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Heng Suthy, Director General of the General Department of Waterway-Maritime Transport and Ports, formalized the agreement with a representative of China's Maritime Safety Administration. The MoU is designed to enhance technical cooperation aimed at improving ferry safety, vessel technical inspection, and vessel safety inspection.
The agreement also seeks to promote environmental protection and green transport development. It outlines plans to increase the capacity of crews on domestic ferries, ensure navigation safety, support international maritime navigation, and strengthen other mutually agreed areas.
