Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MoLVT) and a German business delegation have agreed to expand their cooperation in the field of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Cambodia.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the agreement was reached during a meeting between H.E. Ms. Sovann Vannarath, Permanent Secretary of State at the MoLVT, and Dr. Martina Habibes, head of the German business delegation. During the discussion, H.E. Ms. Sovann Vannarath highlighted Cambodia’s current TVET landscape and the opportunities for cooperation through training projects that support Cambodian citizens. She emphasised that such initiatives play a vital role in helping Cambodia achieve its development goals of becoming an upper-middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2050.
She expressed hope that the cooperation between the Ministry and the German business delegation would soon be formalised through an official agreement. The TVET programme, she added, remains open to collaboration with both national and international partners, especially those from the European Union.
The German business delegation voiced strong support for Cambodia’s vocational and technical training efforts. They underlined that enhanced cooperation would not only benefit the Cambodian workforce but also strengthen bilateral relations between the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Federal Government of Germany. The delegation reaffirmed its intention to continue detailed discussions to advance the partnership.
