Phnom Penh: The Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) recently held discussions regarding the advancements in Cambodia's demining initiatives. This meeting was conducted at the CMAC headquarters, where H.E. Heng Ratana, CMAC's Director General, engaged with Mrs. Eri Komukai, Senior Advisor to JICA at its Tokyo headquarters. According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the JICA delegation expressed appreciation for the progress achieved in Cambodia's demining efforts and reaffirmed the Japanese government's commitment to supporting these humanitarian activities. JICA's support has been crucial in enhancing human resources and providing technical equipment. Additionally, JICA has played a significant role in sharing Cambodia's demining experiences with Ukraine, Colombia, and five African countries. The agency is also involved in launching new projects aimed at research and development. These projects focus on integrating new digital technologies in demining operat ions and supplying essential equipment required for demining efforts.
