A Cambodian delegation led by H.E. Chhiv Yiseang, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and international Cooperation and National Correspondent of Cambodia to the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), attended the 44th session of the Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie (CMF) in Yaoundé, Cameroon from Nov. 4 to 5.
The 44th CMF, held under the theme "Good governance: Guarantee of political, economic and cultural stability for French-speaking citizens", actively focused on (1) - the factors leading to the breakdown of democracy in the French-speaking area, particularly on the African continent and the global situation dominated by crises and conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, (2) - the role of the OIF and its member states in finding solutions and restoring democracy and good governance in the French-speaking area, (3) - international cooperation, multilateralism as well as inclusive and transparent solidarity in favour of the cause of peace, stability, economic growth and sustainable development.
The Conference adopted constitutive documents of the Yaoundé resolution focusing on (1)- the promotion of good governance, peace, human rights and democracy in the French-speaking area, which are fundamental values of the Francophonie, particularly through the involvement of women and young people; (2)- the globalisation of the economy to better respond to the needs of developing countries, particularly French-speaking African countries, and the role of the OIF in creating the conditions enabling these countries to successfully integrate into the global economic system; (3)- the contribution of the OIF with the United Nations to combat climate change; (4)- the importance of promoting the French language in member countries and around the world; and (5)- the protection and promotion of cultural diversity and linguistic diversity in the countries of the Francophonie.
