The Governor of Preah Vihear province, H.E. Kim Rithy has called on his counterpart from Ubon Ratchathani province of Thailand to further upgrade An Ses-An Mah border gate to be an international border checkpoint of both nations.
The call was made yesterday in their bilateral meeting in An Ses village, Choam Ksan commune, Choam Ksan district, Preah Vihear province.
In the meeting, H.E. Kim Rithy asked his counterpart H.E. Suphasit Kocharoenyot to open An Ses-An Mah border gate seven days a week and enhance it into an international border checkpoint to facilitate trade and people-to-people exchange under peace and for mutual benefit.
H.E. Kim Rithy highlighted the achievements in the cooperation between Preah Vihear and Ubon Ratchathani, especially in preventing and cracking down on cross-border crimes along the common border, carrying out the Memorandum of Understanding on Labour Cooperation, cross-border agri-trade, and so on.
In addition, in order to increase the cooperation as well as strengthen the friendship and solidarity between Preah Vihear and Ubon Ratchathani provinces, H.E. Kim Rithy requested the authorities of the two neighbouring provinces to continue their information exchange on all situations and phenomena along the border, and to maintain the status quo in the border area, which has not yet been agreed upon, until the border commissions of the two countries agree on the boundaries and border posts in that area.
