Cambodia Celebrates 8th National TVET Day 2025

Phnom Penh: Cambodia is marking the 8th National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Day to raise public awareness about the importance of TVET in enhancing the quality and effectiveness of skilled labour training in response to labour market demands.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, under this year’s theme ‘TVET Creates Job Opportunities, Building Hope for Youth,’ the annual celebration aligns with the Pentagonal Strategy – Phase 1, which prioritises human capital development by equipping people with high-quality skills, creativity, and competitiveness, fulfilling the goal that ‘every citizen has at least one skill for life,’ said Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet.

‘TVET has remained a key priority of the Royal Government of Cambodia since the country’s liberation on Jan. 7, 1979,’ the Premier stated in an open message to the public.

Samdech Thipadei also highlighted the government’s flagship policy launched on Nov. 14, 2023, which aims to provide technical and vocational training to around 1.5 million young people from poor and vulnerable households. As of May 2025, a total of 121,729 youths, including 49,311 from disadvantaged backgrounds, have enrolled in the programme. Among them, 38,486 trainees, including 16,975 from poor and vulnerable families, have completed their training.

In his message, the Prime Minister appreciated and encouraged all ministries, institutions, public and private training centres, and other stakeholders to continue their efforts in promoting TVET and strengthening the skilled labour force.

The Royal Government has designated June 15 each year as National TVET Day to raise the profile and value of technical and vocational education. The annual celebration aims to inspire students, youth, parents, guardians, workers, employers, the private sector, and the general public to better understand the significance of TVET and take an active role in developing a skilled workforce that meets both national and international labour market needs.
