Kampong Chhnang: The rollout of the Cambodia-China Guangxi modern rice industry cooperation project has been launched in Kampong Chhnang province, marking a significant step towards enhancing food security and improving agricultural efficiency and farmer income through the adoption of Chinese technology.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the project is a collaborative effort under the Fisheries and Rice Corridor Cooperation between Cambodia and China. It aims to develop a modern rice production chain in Cambodia, serving as a model for sector development among provinces surrounding Tonle Sap Lake. The project will commence with the establishment of a 70-hectare modern rice industry cooperation zone in the province, alongside the development of a model rice industry zone and capacity building initiatives for key implementers.
The initiative will include the creation of rice crop maintenance facilities, agricultural machinery, and drying service centers. Additionally, it will offer technical training focu
sed on advanced cultivation techniques, rice crop management, the utilization of modern agricultural machinery, and rice-vegetable crop rotation methods.
Implemented by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China in collaboration with Cambodia’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, this two-year project is scheduled to run from June 2025 to June 2027.
