Phnom Penh: As today marks the Ninth Anniversary of Mekong-Lancang Cooperation and Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Week 2025, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister, H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has expressed a positive outlook on this regional framework. On this occasion, H.E. Prak Sokhonn extended his congratulations and best wishes to the people of the Mekong-Lancang sub-region, noting the significance of this week in their journey toward peace and shared prosperity.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Prak Sokhonn emphasized the importance of remaining committed to the principles of mutual trust and respect. He highlighted the need for deepening practical cooperation and addressing emerging challenges through collaborative approaches. The Deputy Prime Minister stressed the importance of promoting inclusive, sustainable development while advancing the realization of a community with a shared future.
Cambodia is fully committed to playing an active and constructive role in shaping a more integrated community founded on peace, shared prosperity, and a common vision for sustainable advancement in the sub-region. Since its establishment in 2016, the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) has been a vital platform for six nations-Cambodia, People's Republic of China, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Viet Nam-to engage in dialogue, exchanges, and cooperation across three pillars: Political and security; Economic and sustainable development; and Social, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges for practical outcomes.
H.E. Prak Sokhonn underscored that the MLC embodies the spirit of equal partnership, collective leadership, mutual benefit, and a shared vision of a peaceful and prosperous future. These values have empowered the member nations to address common challenges and seize opportunities for growth.
