Cambodia Partners with Chinese Firm on Smart Tourism Development

Cambodia: Cambodian Minister of Tourism H.E. Huot Hak received Mr. Li Tao, Chairman of Heilongjiang Province Maiku Information Technology Co., Ltd., and his colleagues for a courtesy meeting on Sunday.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Mr. Li Tao sought the support of H.E. Minister for his company's project to collaborate with the Ministry of Tourism on digitalisation through Smart Tourism development. This collaboration includes the development of a digital system for managing the Cambodian tourism industry and supporting the development of the Smart Tourism Cambodia Ecosystem. The project aims to create and manage Tourism Satellite Accounts, a Tourism Data Platform, and a Smart Tourism Dashboard for monitoring daily and real-time tourism operations and activities, as well as providing human resources training assistance.

In response, H.E. the Minister expressed his appreciation for the company's initiatives, highlighting Cambodia's rich tourism potential and investment opportunities through the use of cutting-edge information technology and artificial intelligence. The Minister noted the company's participation in digitalisation aligns with the policies of the Royal Government of Cambodia in the 7th mandate.

Following the meeting, the Ministry of Tourism and Heilongjiang Province Maiku Information Technology Co., Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focusing on the discussed project. This is the second new MoU signed under the framework of the cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia and the HEILONGJIANG Provincial Administration.
