Phnom Penh: Cambodia is committed to working with other ASEAN Member States to realise the ASEAN Community Vision to bring about real socio-economic progress for the community as a whole, said Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet at the opening ceremony of the Cambodia-ASEAN Business Summit 2025, held here this morning.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the ASEAN region presents a compelling investment landscape, marked by robust economic dynamism and a steadfast commitment to economic partnership and regional integration. In his keynote address at the summit themed "Accelerating ASEAN's Connectivity: People, Infrastructure, and Trade," Prime Minister Hun Manet highlighted Cambodia's role as a significant member of ASEAN since 1999, emphasizing its potential as a market with a solid economic foundation built on decades of high growth.
The Cambodian economy grew at over 7 percent annually on average before the COVID-19 pandemic and is firmly on track to return to this momentum with a projected growth of 6.3 percent in 2025. It is expected to remain between 6 and 7 percent in the medium term. The Premier attributed this strong performance mainly to the country's open policy toward international trade and investments, which offers strategic investment advantages grounded in political and economic stability.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also stressed that ASEAN's successful navigation of the economic partnership landscape is evident in its comprehensive network of free trade agreements with key leading economies. The Prime Minister added that this collective effort enables ASEAN to effectively address regional and global economic challenges.
