Phnom penh: Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, held a telephone conversation this evening with H.E. Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia and current ASEAN Chair, regarding the alarming developments in Prey Chan village. The clashes between Thai armed forces and Cambodian civilians in Prey Chan village, O' Beichoan commune, O' Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province, yesterday afternoon left numerous people injured.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet requested H.E. Anwar Ibrahim's immediate intervention to help de-escalate the situation by maintaining the status quo, preventing further escalation or actions that could broaden the conflict, and allowing the Joint Boundary Commission (JBC) to resolve the issue. This is in line with the agreement reached between Cambodia and Thailand at the special meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC) on Sept. 10, 2025, he underlined.
