Cambodia to Establish a Private Commercial Centre in Macau

Cambodia is planning to create a private commercial centre in Macau, the People's Republic of China to promote the Kingdom's trade and investment potential. On July 22-23, H.E. SEANG Thay, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce, led a delegation to inspect the location for the establishment of the Cambodian Private Commercial Centre. According to the ministry, the purpose of establishing a Cambodian Private Commercial Centre is to promote the export of Cambodian products to overseas markets, as well as to display products and disseminate documents related to Cambodia's trade, economy, investment, tourism, and culture abroad. During the visit, the source continued, H.E. Secretary of State met with the President of Hengqin Regional Investment Fund and two other private companies. In these meetings, he presented the business environment, the potential sectors for investment, the favorable conditions that Cambodia has as an LDC country, and encouraged those companies to help promote and buy agricultur al products from Cambodia. In response, one company expressed interest in setting up a furniture processing facility for export using imported raw materials, and another confirmed that they would study the possibility of purchasing some products from Cambodia.
