The Kingdom of Cambodia and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam have highly valued their closer ties of friendship, neighbourliness and cooperation, highlighting the importance of existing bilateral mechanisms and cooperation, especially the people-to-people exchange. The remarks were made by Cambodian Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and visiting Vietnamese President H.E. To Lam during their courtesy meeting in Phnom Penh this afternoon. Samdech Techo Hun Sen extended warm welcome to H.E. To Lam's state visit to Cambodia and re-congratulated him on his appointment as the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, reflecting high confidence in his leadership. The senate president noted the good and close relations between Cambodia and Vietnam based on the spirit of "good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term stability." H.E. To Lam thanked Samdech Techo Hun Sen for the warm hospitality, and congratulated the Cambodian People's Party on its success in the recent election and congratulated Samdech Techo Hun Sen on his election as the President of Senate. He underlined that Vietnam and Cambodia are good neighbours and have historical ties against common enemies, and Vietnam adheres to a policy of unwavering friendship, mutual trust and cooperation in all domains. Samdech Techo Hun Sen laid stress on the importance of collaboration, especially continued cooperation between the three countries, namely Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam to promote cooperation as good neighbours.
