Phnom Penh: Cambodian hapkido athletes earned a total of 23 medals at the Southeast Asian Hapkido Championship, held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, from June 14 to 15, 2025.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the medal haul includes 4 gold, 7 silver, and 12 bronze medals. Mr. Kong Chanthina, Secretary-General of the Khmer Hapkido Federation, stated that the competition concluded successfully after two days of intense matches.
Cambodian athletes performed well across both days. On the first day, Cambodia secured 1 gold, 3 silver, and 7 bronze medals. The team continued their momentum on the second day, adding 3 more golds, 4 silvers, and 5 bronzes to their tally, bringing the total to 23 medals.
The 4 gold medals were won by Sokhon Sihanut, in the -35kg sparring category, while Kong Mona Diana, Kong Mona Jessica, and Phin Monyrath won in the long jump events.
This achievement marks another milestone for the Khmer Hapkido Federation, which has been actively developing and promoting the sport in Cambodia. It r
eflects the dedication and hard work of the athletes, coaches, and federation leadership in elevating Cambodia’s presence in regional martial arts competitions.
The 2025 Southeast Asian Hapkido Championship featured participation from eight countries. Cambodia was represented by a team of 11 athletes, who proudly brought home medals for their country.
