Cambodia: Cambodia's national wrestling team claimed three medals at the Southeast Asian and Invitation Wrestling Championship 2025 held in Singapore from May 10 to 12.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Cambodian team earned one silver and two bronze medals. Wrestler Soeurn Sophors secured a silver medal in the men's freestyle 61kg category, finishing behind New Zealand's Suraj Shahil Singh, who won gold. Singapore's Javier Ze Xin Yong took the bronze in that category.
Meanwhile, Chhuon Chheang earned a bronze medal in the men's freestyle 74kg event, with gold going to a Vietnamese wrestler and silver to a Singaporean athlete. Yun Bunna added another bronze for Cambodia in the 70kg freestyle division.
Coach Kang Denpiseth highlighted that Cambodia sent a delegation of 12 wrestlers-nine male and three female-to compete in the international tournament.
The participation was made possible through the support of Casey Barnett, Vice President of the Cambodian Wrestling Federation and Director of the CamEd Institute. The aim was to test and improve the athletes' performance ahead of the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand this December.
The Cambodian delegation consisted of 17 members, including international referees, coaching staff, and athletes.
