Phnom penh: Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of Cambodia, has extended his sincere congratulations to Malaysia on the auspicious occasion of the 68th Anniversary of Malaysia's National Day (Aug. 31, 1957 - Aug. 31, 2025).
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Samdech Techo Hun Sen praised Malaysia for its economic and social progress, acknowledging the efforts of the Malaysian government and its people. He highlighted Malaysia's significant role on the regional and international stages and commended its leadership as the current Chair of ASEAN, guiding the association's efforts for the benefit of the ASEAN Community.
In his messages to Hon. Senator Dato Awang Bemee bin Awang Ali Basa, President of the Dewan Negara, and Hon. Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, Hun Sen affirmed Cambodia's commitment to strengthening relations with Malaysia. He emphasized the importance of these relations in fostering peace, stability, and prosperity within the ASEAN community.
Hun Sen reflected on the progress of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Malaysia since 1957, noting advancements in politics, social and economic development, and people-to-people exchanges. He expressed confidence that the two nations would continue to thrive through joint efforts and cooperation on both bilateral and multilateral fronts.
Additionally, Hun Sen expressed gratitude for Malaysia's intermediary role, particularly that of Hon. Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in facilitating the recent Ceasefire Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand.
