Cambodian Minister Celebrates 58th ASEAN Day, Urges Unity and Shared Heritage

Phnom penh: H.E. Dr. Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, presided over a celebration for the 58th anniversary of ASEAN's founding anniversary on Aug. 9 evening. The event, held at the Royal University of Fine Arts, brought together diplomats, international guests, and students to commemorate the regional bloc's establishment.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the event was organised by the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts in partnership with embassies from ASEAN member states and Timor-Leste, highlighting the region's cultural diversity and shared goals. Attendees enjoyed an exhibition of traditional handicrafts, a quiz on ASEAN topics, and artistic performances by students from the Secondary School of Fine Arts.

In her address, H.E. Dr. Phoeurng Sackona emphasised the importance of strengthening unity and safeguarding shared cultural heritage. She urged continued commitment to building a "strong, inclusive, resilient, and prosperous ASEAN Community for future generations."

The event marks another year of Cambodia's active participation in fostering regional cooperation and cultural exchange within the ASEAN framework.
