Phnom penh: Samdech Moha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of Cambodia's National Assembly, is set to lead a high-level delegation to the 46th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, scheduled from September 16 to 22.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the announcement of Cambodia's participation was made during a preparatory meeting chaired by Samdech Khuon Sudary. This year's assembly will operate under the theme 'Parliament at the Forefront for Inclusive Growth and Sustainable ASEAN.'
AIPA serves as ASEAN's parliamentary platform, gathering lawmakers annually to discuss strategies for advancing dialogue, negotiations, and peaceful resolution of challenges. The discussions aim to contribute to achieving the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 by promoting sustainable, inclusive, prosperous, and people-centered development.
The Cambodian delegation's involvement is intended to strengthen parliamentary mechanisms, uphold multilateral principles, and provide opportunities to deepen friendships and expand cooperation with member countries and development partners. Key areas for cooperation include the economy, trade, society, culture, and tourism, with a focus on enhancing people-to-people connectivity within the region and globally.
