Ulaanbaatar: H.E. CHUM Sounry, Secretary of State for Cambodia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC), shared insights at the 10th Foreign Ministers' Meeting of the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, under Agenda Item 3, 'Road to Ulaanbaatar: Reflection on the 25th Anniversary of FEALAC,' H.E. Secretary of State highlighted the achievements of FEALAC over the past 25 years and called for renewed political will to elevate its global role. He emphasized the need for FEALAC to strengthen its vision, structure, commitment, and concrete action.
In addressing Agenda Item 4, '25 Years and Beyond: Vision for East Asia and Latin America,' H.E. Chum Sounry outlined Cambodia's priorities in enhancing trade, investment, and tourism. He also stressed the importance of promoting sustainable and inclusive growth and enhancing FEALAC's visibility, suggesting the organization hold a future summit and engage more closely with the United Nations.
Prior to the Ministerial Session, during the 24th Senior Officials' Meeting, H.E. Secretary of State delivered remarks on the New FEALAC Action Plan. He reaffirmed Cambodia's support for the Forum's future direction and stressed that the plan must remain inclusive, practical, and responsive to the priorities of all members, particularly developing countries.
Launched in 1999, FEALAC serves as a platform for dialogue and cooperation between 36 member countries from Latin America and East Asia. The forum includes 20 countries from Latin America and 16 from East Asia, with a shared goal of enhancing cooperation and dialogue across regions.
