Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Digital of Malaysia, at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh this afternoon. On the occasion, H.E. Gobind Singh Deo commended the Cambodian Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications for the good and successful organisation of the Digital Government Forum 2024 and the inaugural Cambodia-International Digital Government and Digital Technology Exhibition, and expressed his optimism that Cambodia will achieve the building of a digital economy and society in the future. The Malaysian minister hoped that the forum would continue to be held in all ASEAN countries so that ASEAN participants could meet and sharpen discussions to ensure digital connectivity. ASEAN countries are ready to contribute to promoting the digital sector, digital government, digital economy and towards a digital society with the growth of digital security protection to be able to prevent cyber crimes and cross-border crimes, he affirmed. For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed warm welcome to H.E. Gobind Singh Deo, and thanked him for his participation in the Digital Government Forum 2024 and the inaugural Cambodia-International Digital Government and Digital Technology Exhibition. The forum is very important for finding ways for digital connectivity at present and in the future, and it will become a platform for further use in ASEAN digital affairs to build and develop digital infrastructure and connect ASEAN countries, he stressed. The Cambodian Premier also emphasised that ensuring a strong digital connectivity in the ASEAN region requires the strengthening of digital security, and accurate and reliable regulations. The person surnamed Baek was detained in Vladivostok and transported to Moscow late last month for investigation on suspicions of passing classified state information to a foreign intelligence agency, TASS said, citing law enforcement authorities. It marks the first time a South Korean has been arrested in Russia on spying suspicions. The Lefortovo Court in Moscow extended the detainment period of the arrested South Korean to June 15 in a closed-door hearing.
