Cambodian Senate President Questions Thailand’s Fear of His Facebook Posts

Phnom Penh: Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, has raised concerns regarding Thailand’s decision to establish a task force to monitor his Facebook account, questioning the necessity of such measures if Thailand claims innocence.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Hun Sen referenced a report from Thai news outlet The Nation, dated 17 June 2025, stating that a new task force was created to manage rising tensions along the Cambodia-Thailand border. These tensions have reportedly been fueled by Hun Sen’s frequent social media posts, highlighting issues affecting the two countries’ relations.

In his social media post, the former Cambodian Prime Minister questioned the rationale behind Thailand’s apprehension towards his online activities. He asserted that his posts merely convey the truth and realities concerning Cambodia’s sovereignty and acts perceived as aggression against his nation.

Hun Sen expressed his intent to keep both Cambodian citizens and international observers informed about the situation, reiterating the importance of transparency. He emphasized the lack of necessity for a monitoring task force if Thailand is indeed innocent of any wrongdoing.
