Phnom penh: President of the Senate of Cambodia, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, has called on the Thai judiciary to open an investigation into former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, known for his close ties to the Cambodian leader.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, several Thai authorities, media outlets, and members of the public have suggested that the investigation and crackdown on Kok An, a Cambodian tycoon, are due to his close ties with Hun Sen. In response, Samdech Techo Hun Sen has urged the Thai court to act consistently by launching an investigation into Thaksin, highlighting their well-known close relationship. He emphasized this by stating that Thaksin even has a reserved room at his home.
Samdech Techo questioned the courage of the Thai court, asking whether it would dare to open an investigation into Thaksin. He remarked, 'Let's see if the Thai court dares to open an investigation into Thaksin or not.'
The Senate President also expressed his perspective on Thailand's recent efforts to combat online crimes. He congratulated the Thai authorities and police for their operations aimed at reducing cybercrime, which has long affected Cambodia due to activities originating from Thai territory. Samdech Techo noted that the dismantling of these crime networks should have occurred much earlier to prevent issues for Cambodia, especially along the Thai border.
