New york city: H.E. Chhieng Yanara, Senior Minister in charge of Special Missions and Second Vice-President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), participated in the Ministerial Segment of the High-Level Political Forum 2025 (HLPF) in New York City, United States of America, early this week.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Chhieng Yanara emphasized the efforts of the government and people of Cambodia in transforming the country into a peaceful and dignified place, underscoring their commitment to preserving peace, adhering to international laws, and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
H.E. Senior Minister highlighted Cambodia's commitment to advancing SDGs, including efforts to end HIV/AIDS (SDG 3), empowerment initiatives (SDG 4), economic diversification and digital innovation (SDG 8), governance in fisheries (SDG 14), and inclusive decision-making (SDG 17).
The 2025 HLPF is the United Nations' central platform for reviewing the 2030 Agenda under the theme 'Advancing Sustainable Inclusive, Science and Evidence-Based Solutions for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals for Leaving No One Behind.' It drew high-level representatives from Member States, the United Nations System, civil society, and the private sector to discuss policies for accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
The segment conducted an in-depth review of SDGs with an emphasis on interlinked goals, including good health and well-being (SDG 3), gender equality (SDG 5), decent work and economic growth (SDG 8), life below water (SDG 14), and partnerships for the goals (SDG 17).
