Phnom penh: Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, has commended the collective effort of parents, teachers, and officials behind students’ exceptional performance in the recent high school graduation examination.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the minister’s remarks came during a ceremony on Oct. 12 in Kang Meas district, Kampong Cham province, where he met and honoured 15 students-including five girls-who achieved top Grade A scores in the national exam.
H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron attributed the students’ success to the “tireless efforts” of educators, the support of families, and the students’ own dedication. He urged the high-achievers to make strategic choices for their future, advising them to align their university studies with both personal interest and labour market demands.
“Your continued education is a crucial foundation for improving your own livelihoods, supporting your families, and contributing to our national development,” he stated.
The Minister also emphasised the need to bolster students’ soft skills, molding them into responsible citizens with strong moral values and a sense of civic duty, thereby strengthening the nation’s human capital.
Beyond the Kang Meas district ceremony, H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron called on Royal Government Working Groups and local authorities across the country to engage with students of all achievement levels, encouraging them to pursue higher education and become productive members of society.
As a token of recognition, the Minister presented each of the 15 top-performing students with a laptop during the event.
