Cambodia’s First Tourism Vocational School to Open Its Doors in June 2025

Phnom Penh: The first Tourism Vocational School in Cambodia is set for a soft opening on June 27, 2025, as its campuses near full completion and readiness.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, progress on the school and preparations for its opening were key topics of discussion during a farewell meeting held on June 17. The meeting was attended by H.E. Hout Hak, Minister of Tourism, and H.E. Jacques Pellet, the outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Cambodia.

The Ministry of Tourism reports that the school will operate from two campuses. The main campus in Phnom Penh is located on Street 1003 in Payap Village, Sangkat Phnom Penh Thmey, Khan Sen Sok. It covers 4,000 square metres and includes two buildings: a two-story front section and a four-story rear section.

The second campus is located in Preah Sihanouk province on Sopheak Mongkul Street, Village 2, Sangkat 2. This campus shares its site with the Provincial Tourism Department and spans 1,775 square metres, com
prising a single four-story building.

The Tourism Vocational School benefits from support and funding by the French Development Agency (AFD), focusing on training in four primary areas: Hotel and accommodation services, Food and beverage services, Travel services, and Tourism services.

These programmes are designed to meet both national and ASEAN standards and aim to deliver cost-effective, high-quality vocational training. Graduates from the school are expected to acquire industry-relevant skills, thereby contributing to the enhancement of Cambodia’s human resources in the burgeoning tourism sector.

Ambassador Pellet expressed gratitude for the cooperation and support he received throughout his tenure, highlighting the effective collaboration with Cambodian public and private institutions. He also assured continued French support to Cambodia.

Minister Hout Hak, in turn, thanked Ambassador Pellet for his efforts, especially in establishing Cambodia’s first tourism vocational school, and extended best wish
es for his future diplomatic endeavors.
