Chinese Naval Ships Conclude Five-Day Goodwill Visit to Cambodia

Sihanoukville: A two-ship naval task group from the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) departed Cambodian territorial waters this morning, concluding a five-day goodwill visit aimed at strengthening bilateral defence ties.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the visit, centred at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port, was designed to enhance friendship and military cooperation between Cambodia and China. The departing contingent consisted of two vessels: Qi Jiguang (PLAN 83) and Yi Mengshan (PLAN 988). The two ships had a combined crew of 1,207 personnel.

The departure ceremony was overseen by Cambodian Admiral In Sokhemra, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Ream Naval Base. During the port call, the Chinese naval delegation conducted courtesy visits with the Governor of Preah Sihanouk province, Commander of Ream Naval Base, and senior officials from Cambodia's Ministry of National Defence. The itinerary also featured professional exchanges, joint sports activities, and cultural events to foster deeper mutual understanding and cooperation between the two navies.
