CMAC Director General Calls for Adherence to Border Agreement Following Incident

Phnom penh: H.E. Heng Ratana, Director General of the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC), has urged Thailand to fully implement the points agreed upon during the Extraordinary Meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC) held on August 7, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His call comes in the wake of a landmine incident that injured three Thai soldiers at the Cambodia-Thailand border.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Heng Ratana addressed the incident through a Facebook post, highlighting the mine as a remnant of past conflicts. The occurrence, reported by multiple national and international media outlets, underscores the importance of adhering to the agreements made to prevent further incidents and confusion at the frontlines.

H.E. Heng Ratana emphasized the necessity for Thailand to strictly follow the Agreed Minutes of the Extraordinary GBC Meeting, specifically Point 2. This point mandates both sides to maintain current troop deployments without any further movement, as established at the ceasefire on July 28, 2025, at midnight local time. It explicitly prohibits any troop movements, including patrols towards the other side's position, to ensure stability and avoid escalating tensions.
