Defense Minister Shin Won-sik discussed Thursday bolstering the South Korea-U.S. alliance with a delegation led by Jason Matheny, chief of the U.S. think tank RAND Corp., his office said. In their meeting, Shin emphasized the importance of nongovernmental exchanges and cooperation across various areas and thanked the U.S. think tank for working to strengthen the alliance, according to the ministry. Members of the delegation expressed hope that the two nations will expand their cooperation to areas including science and technology, to tackle new security threats coming from supply chain issues, it added.
