Embassy of Japan to Hold 27th Japanese Speech Contest This Weekend


Phnom Penh: The 27th Japanese Speech Contest for Japanese language learners will be held on May 25 from 13:00 to 17:00, at the Angkor-Kizuna Hall, Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Centre (CJCC), Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP).

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the forthcoming event is aimed to promote Japanese language education in Cambodia.

Jointly organised by the Embassy of Japan, the CJCC, the Department of Japanese language, RUPP’s Institute of Foreign Languages, and Phnom Penh Liaison Office, the Japanese Speech Contest is a special occasion for students from various schools in Cambodia to showcase what they have learned through their Japanese language classes.

This year, 15 candidates were selected among 69 candidates to compete in the final round, said the embassy, underlining that this contest aims to further promote the understanding of Japanese culture and language among the Cambodian youth.
