NAMYANGJU, South Korea, Former baseball player Jung Soo-keun was referred to the prosecution Tuesday on charges of hitting his wife with a golf club, officials said. Jung, 47, was accused of striking his wife's forehead once with a golf club at their home in Namyangju, northeast of Seoul, while drunk at around 5 a.m. Saturday. After his wife, 34, called police, Jung was taken to a police station for questioning and was later released. During two rounds of questioning, Jung denied the charges against him, officials said. The wife had originally expressed her desire for Jung to be punished but recently told police that she changed her mind. Police still decided to refer Jung to the prosecution without physical detention on charges of special violence because a golf club was used. Unlike simple violence cases, special violence can be punished regardless of the victim's desire. Source: Yonhap News Agency
