Phnom penh: The Extraordinary Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand Regional Border Committee (RBC) has reaffirmed the importance of maintaining regular communication between military regions and units along the border, in order to resolve issues peacefully and prevent clashes in line with the spirit of the General Border Committee (GBC) agreement. The statement was emphasised by H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, at a regular press briefing in Phnom Penh this morning. According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Extraordinary RBC Meeting between Cambodia's 5th Military Region and Thailand's Chanthaburi-Trat Border Defence Command is being held today in Pailin province, Cambodia, following the mutually agreed agenda. The meeting is co-chaired by H.E. Lt. Gen. Ek Sam Aun, Commander of Cambodia's 5th Military Region, and H.E. Vice Admiral Aphichat Sapprasert, Commander of Thailand's Chanthaburi-Trat Border Defence Command. The spokesperson expr essed hope that the meeting would yield further positive outcomes, enabling both sides to fully and effectively implement the ceasefire agreement, thereby fostering peace, stability, and the restoration of normal relations.
