FATHER WHO LOST THREE SONS IN ROMPIN CRASH ACCEPTS THEIR DEATHS AS FATE

The father who lost three sons in an accident that occurred when the lorry they were travelling in crashed into a crane at Kilometre 136 Jalan Kuantan/Johor Bharu here yesterday has accepted their deaths as fate.

Abu Bakar Ibrahim, 54, said he was working in Terengganu when his sons Muhammad Firdaus, 28, Muhammad Solihin, 21, and Ahmad Jazuly, 17 perished in the accident.

He said he received a call from his wife Norezah Rejab, 51, at around 7.30 pm informing him that Muhammad Solihin, the third in the family, passed away.

"Almost an hour after that, I received the news that Along (Muhammad Firdaus) had also passed away followed by a third call about Ucu’s (Ahmad Jazuly) death an hour later," he said when met at the Kampung Setajam Muslim Cemetery here today.

Abu Bakar was overcome with emotion when he told reporters that yesterday was Ahmad Jazuly’s birthday, adding that he received a Whatsapp message from him asking for a pair of shoes for his birthday present.

Abu Bakar said Muhammad Solihin, who was a final year mechanical engineering student at Muadzam Shah Polytechnic here, sent him a WhatsApp message at 5.10 am yesterday, asking Abu Bakar to pray for him as he was going to sit for exams.

"It was a habit of him during exams but yesterday Muhammad Solihin said he felt very calm," Abu Bakar said.

Meanwhile, the victims’ sister Nur Faqihah, 16, said her brothers were heading home to Jalan Sungai Kolek here, after helping their mother fetch padi seeds from the rice fields in Kampung Setajam.

She said their mother drove to the rice fields in her car but made a stop at a petrol station to refuel, adding that when they left the house Muhammad Firdaus was riding in the car with her.

“Along was very helpful and often went with Mother to the rice fields despite being disabled. He was the closest to Mother," she said.

Nur Faqihah said before leaving the house Ahmad Jazuly ate lunch consisting of his favourite chicken curry dish prepared by their mother in conjunction with his birthday.
