Oddar meanchey: A delegation comprising ambassadors and representatives from 22 countries and four international organisations conducted a field visit today to areas in Oddar Meanchey province affected by the recent armed clashes along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the visit was led by H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, as confirmed by H.E. Chum Sounry, Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry. Among the diplomats was H.E. Ueno Atsushi, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia, who shared his impressions following the visit.
The Japanese ambassador expressed his sorrow after visiting areas impacted by the military clashes and shelters for displaced civilians. He conveyed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and offered sympathy to those affected, hoping for a swift restoration of peace. He affirmed Japan's commitment to supporting peace efforts.
EU Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Igor Driesmans and Australian Ambassador H.E. Derek Yip also participated in the field trip. They reiterated their support for the ceasefire and urged both Cambodia and Thailand to honor it and work towards a lasting and peaceful resolution.
