Thbong khmum: H.E. Vong Sauth, Second Vice President of the National Assembly, offered heartfelt condolences to the families of the late Lieutenant Colonels Chhai Roth and Un Vanna at their homes in Kroch Chhmar and Memut districts in Thbong Khmum province on Thursday. The brave frontline soldiers devoted their lives defending Cambodian territory during a five-day battle against Thai forces from July 24 to 28. Their remains were laid to rest with traditional religious ceremonies at their homes.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Vong Sauth expressed sympathies on behalf of Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, Honorary President of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King and Member of Parliament for Thbong Khmum constituency, Samdech Thammavisotvongsa Sao Ty Heng Samrin, and senior leaders from the Senate, National Assembly, and Royal Government. Condolences were extended to their wives, children, and relatives of the fallen heroes, as well as other veterans.
H.E. Vong Sauth shared deep regret over the loss of the two courageous heroes and other fallen soldiers. Their sacrifice is a great loss to the nation - true patriots who fought with courage and determination to protect Cambodia's sovereignty from invasion. Their dedication safeguarded the motherland and peace for all Cambodians, creating a legacy of heroism and patriotism that will always inspire the youth and citizens nationwide.
In honour of these veterans' bravery, the government, under the leadership of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, has made it a priority to provide ongoing support and assistance to the families of fallen heroes, ensuring they receive proper care and help. The Second Vice President emphasised the strong unity of Khmer people, both inside Cambodia and abroad, in supporting frontline veterans and raising global awareness about their sacrifice, with the goal of securing lasting peace for Cambodian people.
H.E. Vong Sauth, Madam, and Members of Parliament from Thbong Khmum constituency also provided financial support of ten million riel to each grieving family during this difficult time.
