Phnom Penh: Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, and First Lady Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony left here this evening for France to attend the Third United Nations Ocean Conference to be held in Nice, France, from June 9 to 11, 2025. The Prime Minister and the First Lady were seen off at Phnom Penh International Airport by deputy prime ministers, senior ministers, and many other high-ranking officials. French Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Jacques Pellet was also present on the occasion. The upcoming participation will be made at the invitation of H.E. Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, and H.E. Ant³nio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, with the theme "Accelerating Action and Mobilising Partnerships: Solutions for Ocean-Based Climate Action, Biodiversity, and Sustainable Development," Samdech Thipadei will deliver Cambodia's National Statement during the General Debate, highlighting the Kingdom's vision, commitments, and initiatives in ocean governance, climate resilience, and sustainable development. Samdech Thipadei is expected to hold bilateral meetings with several leaders on the margins of the Conference, to strengthen bilateral relations and reaffirm Cambodia's commitment to multilateral cooperation, it added.
'Cambodia's participation demonstrates its firm dedication to global efforts in addressing ocean-related challenges and promoting the sustainable use of the ocean and marine resources, consistent with Sustainable Development Goal 14 (Life Below Water),' stressed the press release.
