Siem Reap: An ad hoc team of international experts from the International Coordinating Committee for the Safeguarding and Development of the Historic Sites of Angkor and Sambor Prei Kuk (ICC-Angkor-Sambor Prei Kuk) conducted a comprehensive inspection of ongoing restoration and conservation work at the Sambor Prei Kuk temple complex on June 15.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the team's visit included several critical restoration areas, such as the East Outer Gate (C12), the central sanctuary (C1) within the Prasat Tor group, the Octagonal Tower (Y), the Trapeang Ropeark group, and Prasat Kbal Chrouk. Experts also reviewed the development of newly planned access roads within the Sambor temple zone.
This field mission was specifically designed to evaluate current restoration activities in accordance with recommendations previously issued by international specialists.
The findings from this inspection will inform discussions at the upcoming 40th Technical Session of the ICC-Angkor-Sambor Prei Kuk, slated for June 19-20, 2025, at the Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Hotel in Siem Reap province.
