KUALA LUMPUR, Icon Offshore Bhd said an investigation on the cause of the incident involving its vessel, Icon Amara, is currently underway, adding that it is fully cooperating with relevant authorities. According to news reports, the explosion which occurred in the vessel's engine room on Aug 2 had claimed the lives of two of its crew, while another crew member was seriously injured. In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the company said that its emergency response team was immediately mobilised to provide the necessary support to the affected crew members and their next of kin. 'While the investigation is ongoing, we would like to assure all stakeholders that the vessel, Icon Amara, along with its crew members, is fully insured. "We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and our deepest sympathies to the injured and their families. The company is committed to offering all possible assistance during this difficult time," it said. Icon Offshore noted that the incident is not expected to have a material impact on its overall operations or financial performance. 'The company anticipates that the vessel will be restored to active duty following the completion of the investigation. 'Icon Offshore remains committed to the safety and well-being of all personnel, and we will take all necessary steps to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future," it added.
