Interior Ministry of Cambodia Refutes Allegations in Foreign Report

Phnom Penh: The Spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior of Cambodia has issued a press release, categorically rejecting a baseless report by a group of foreigners, which distorted information with a malicious intent to mislead the national and international public opinion.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the contentious report titled "Policies and Patterns: State-Abetted Transnational Crime in Cambodia as a Global Security Threat" was released by a group that has been previously criticized for its inefficient use of funds and lack of transparency. This has led to the group being cut off from aid by donor countries. The report allegedly accuses senior government officials of being involved in, or incapable of controlling, human trafficking, cybercrime, and money laundering. The Ministry has strongly condemned this report, calling it unprofessional and lacking in clear evidence, professionalism, impartiality, and independence.

The ministry emphasized that the report exaggerates Cambodia's role as a threat to global security and was fabricated to further the political agenda of extremist opposition groups. These groups, the ministry claims, are inciting hatred against the Royal Government's leadership. The Ministry of Interior reaffirms its commitment to combating illegal activities such as human trafficking, online scams, and money laundering under the leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet. They have implemented various measures, including the establishment of an ad-hoc working group and online complaint mechanisms, to address these issues.

Despite ongoing efforts, the ministry acknowledges the challenges posed by modern crimes which often involve sophisticated technology and require international cooperation to effectively suppress. The Ministry of Interior also clarifies that H.E. Abhisantibindit SAR Sokha, who was falsely accused of being a major investor in Jinbei Casino, has no financial ties to the casino, which is owned by Prince Group Holding.

The Ministry of Interior of Cambodia strongly condemns the report and urges the public to place their trust in the Royal Government's leadership and initiatives.
